Caitlin was an exceptional two-sport athlete at Central. While at GFC, she earned 6 varsity letters in basketball and volleyball. She was a dominant player on the basketball court. Caitlin’s name appears on 7 individual records that she still holds. She is GFC’s all-time leading scorer for girls with 1,428 points. Caitlin holds three rebounding records; 1,277 career rebounds, 422 rebounds for a season, and 30 rebounds in one game. She also holds three individual block records, 315 career blocks, 96 in one season, and a single game record of 10. When Caitlin graduated, her career rebounds were a state record for girls’ basketball. She was North Dakota’s Miss Basketball in 2011, was named to the McDonald's All America Team, and was named both the Gatorade and Powerade player of the year. Caitlin was named to the All-State Team three times 2009-11 and was All EDC four times 2008-11. The 2011 team has the record for wins in a season with 21. She also lettered in volleyball in 2010 & 2011. In 2010, Caitlin had 185 kills, 33 solo blocks, 308 digs, and 27 aces. She led the team in blocks both seasons.
When asked what sets GFC apart from other schools, she said the history and tradition. “No matter where we went, there were no schools with as much tradition as GFC and no other schools had the supportive fans that we had.”
Her favorite memories were getting to the state basketball tournament in 2011. Watching the hockey team win the state championship in 2010. Being part of the student section at GFC football games. And last but not least, every bus ride with my teammates. Caitlin said, “I can’t thank my mother enough for spending countless hours and weekends taking me to basketball tournaments and never complaining.” She would also like to thank her brother who practiced with her for hours in the driveway. Caitlin is currently an RN and lives in Grand Forks.
