When asked what sets GFC apart from other high schools, he stated, “GFC is the oldest high school in the state and it has a long history of athletic excellence. The school pride and tradition are carried by everyone who wears the maroon and grey.”
A significant memory of GFC is when our team won the State Cross Country Championship in 1998, which was the schools first Cross Country Team Championship. It was part of a defining moment in the programs history.
Lee’s advice to current GFC students is to enjoy your time at Central, because it will be over faster than you know. Don’t worry too much about impressing people who you’ll never see again; instead, make memories with those closest to you. Try new things, make mistakes, and never stop learning. “Failure is often the best teacher. When you have immediate success, you don’t get to experience the struggle that is paramount to growth.”
