“Awesome” is Paula Pringle Walker’s description of her years at Grand Forks Central. The 1982 graduate still stands as a school track record holder as a member of the 4x100 relay team.  Paula was one of five siblings to attend Central. Her sister Terri and three brothers, Marc, Pat, and Steve all made lasting marks as students and athletes.  Her parents, Lester and Shaaron spent many years as the foundation of a family that truly bled Maroon and Grey.

The 1982 Female Athlete of the Year, Paula was a member of the basketball, volleyball, and track teams at GFC.  An all state performer and state champion in 4x100 Relay, Paula also has three additional medals from the North Dakota State Track Meet.  Ironically, the former GFC school record holder in the 100-meter dash had her name eventually replaced on the record board by a runner who was coached by her brother Pat.

Paula and her husband Al reside in Richmond, Virginia where she is a consultant for Zales Jewelry, and she has four nephews who she is very close to.  She enjoyed a great deal of athletic success while she attended GFC, and is mindful of being part of the growth of athletics beyond hockey, particularly girl’s sports.
