Peter was an outstanding athlete while at Grand Forks Central. He excelled in hockey and football. Here are some of Peter’s accomplishments. When Peter graduated, he was the all-time leading scorer in North Dakota boys hockey with 185 pts. He was the first ever GFC athlete to earn four varsity letters in hockey. He played on three State Champion teams in hockey, 1977,79, & 80. Peter earned All State Tournament team in hockey three years in a row, 1978-1980. After Peter graduated he went on to play four years of college hockey at Colorado College. As a football player, he was All-EDC player for three years, 1978-1980. Peter was named to the Greater Grand Forks City football team 3 times from 1978-1980. He also golfed for Central in 1978.
When asked what sets GFC apart from other schools, Peter responded, the history and winning tradition of GFC hockey. His most significant memories from his years at GFC, he said, were winning 3 State Championships in hockey, being an academic honor student, and meeting my wife of 38 years as a sophomore.
Peter is retired and lives in Timnath, Colorado with Lisa (Knudsvig), also a 1980 GFC grad. They have two adult sons, Tyler and Kyle.
