Sarah Hutton was a state placeholder for six consecutive years. In 1987, as a 7th grader, Sarah placed 5th at state in the 3200-meter run. In 1988 she qualified for the state meet in the 1600-meter run and placed 5th in the 3200-meter run. The following year she qualified for the state meet in the 1600-meter run, was a member of both the 1600-meter relay and the 3200-meter relay teams while placing 4th in the 3200-meter run. At the state meet in 1990 Sarah placed 6th in the 1600-meter run, was a member of relay teams that placed 3rd in the 1600-meter relay and 2nd in the 3200-meter relay, and placed 1st in the 3200 with a school record. 1991 saw Sarah place 5th at state in the 800-meter run, 3rd in the 1600-meter run, 2nd in the 3200-meter run and was a member of the 3200-meter relay team that placed 1st with a school record. Sarah’s senior year at GFC saw her qualify in the 800 meter run, placing 4th in the 1600 meter run, 3rd in the 3200 meter run and was a member of the 3200 meter relay that placed 3rd.
During Sarah’s track career at GFC she amassed a total of 1063.5 points, lettered for six consecutive years, is the current record holder in the 3200 run with a time of 11:10.56 set in 1990 and is a member of the 3200 relay team which holds the school record of 9:38.59 set in 1992. Sarah was voted the Most Valuable Distance Runner for three years.
At graduation practice, Tony Gasparini and Sarah were given an award for each earning 13 letter awards from Central (believed to still be a school record). Sarah letters included 6 for track, 5 for cross-country and 2 for volleyball.
When Sarah graduated from GFC in 1992 she ran competitively for the University of Oklahoma.
